Zafeiridou Sofia

Zafeiridou Sofia is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Patras, Greece, actively teaching undergraduate courses including Analytic Geometry, Calculus, and General Topology, as well as postgraduate Algebraic Topology during the 2023-24 academic year. Her academic affiliation is exclusively with the University of Patras since her PhD completion.

She earned her doctorate from the University of Patras Department of Mathematics in 1990 with the thesis Rim-scattered spaces and universality, establishing her foundational work in continuum theory.

Her research program centers on General Topology with deep specialization in Continuum Theory, particularly investigating dendrites with countable end-point sets, planar continua, rim-scattered spaces, and universal space constructions. This focused trajectory has produced significant methodological contributions to understanding topological embeddings and classification systems within compact metric spaces.
