Zack Finch is an Associate Professor of English at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), where he serves as Chair of the English & Communications Department. He teaches courses in creative writing, poetry, and literary studies, emphasizing risk-taking, critical thinking, and collaborative growth. Finch is actively involved in campus initiatives, including organizing MCLA’s Visiting Writers series and advising Spires, the campus literary magazine, and the poetry club. He also serves as an editor at The Wallace Stevens Journal.
Finch holds a Ph.D. in English from SUNY Buffalo, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College, and a B.A. with Honors from Dartmouth College. His creative work includes lyric essays and poetry published in journals like The Georgia Review, New England Review, and Poetry. His scholarly research focuses on U.S. poetry and poetics from the late 19th to 20th centuries, with peer-reviewed articles exploring figures like Wallace Stevens, William Carlos Williams, and Sarah Piatt.
His creative collaborations with visual artists include works with Enrico Riley and Melanie Mowinski. Finch has received awards such as the Poetry Fellowship from The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and MCLA’s Sabbatical Research Award (2019). His writing often bridges literary analysis and creative practice, reflecting his commitment to interdisciplinary exploration.
