Dr. Zachary Pilot is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Southern Indiana's College of Liberal Arts. He founded the Human Development and Psychopathology Lab in 2020 to engage students in research and career preparation.
- Research Interests: Social cognition, theory of mind, empathy, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), peer mentoring, and mental health.
- Projects: Investigates ACEs' impact on mental health in underrepresented groups, challenges traditional empathy measures in neurodiverse populations, and develops peer-mentoring frameworks for academic success.
Lab Team: Mentors current students (e.g., Huda Hamed, Tyler Robinson) and alumni (e.g., Bentley Pfingston, Mikaila Ealum) on publications and research initiatives.
