Zach Williams is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Stanford University's Department of English. He holds the position of Jones Lecturer in Fiction and previously served as a Wallace Stegner Fellow (2021-2023). His academic focus centers on fiction writing, creative nonfiction, and narrative techniques.
Williams' debut short story collection Beautiful Days (Doubleday, 2024) was longlisted for the 2025 PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize and is a finalist for the California Book Award. His work has appeared in prestigious outlets like The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and McSweeney's Quarterly Concern. The story 'Trial Run' contributed to The Paris Review winning the 2023 ASME Award for Fiction.
