Zacc Harris serves as a Lecturer in Jazz and Blues Guitar at Carleton College's Department of Music, holding this position continuously since 2014. He teaches across all academic terms with a comprehensive course load spanning jazz guitar performance, improvisation, and ensemble work.
Harris earned his Bachelor of Arts from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. His pedagogical foundation integrates both theoretical and practical musicianship through structured curriculum development.
His research and teaching focus centers on:
- Historical evolution of blues guitar techniques
- Modal and harmonic frameworks for jazz improvisation
- Chamber music dynamics in small jazz ensembles
- Differentiated instruction for juried vs. non-juried performance assessment
