Yvonne Lam is an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta, holding a joint appointment in the Department of Linguistics and the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies (Spanish). She earned her PhD in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Toronto in 2003. Her research focuses on multilingual practices, particularly among indigenous communities in Mexico (e.g., Totonac) and heritage language communities in Canada. She collaborates with the Hul'q'umi'num' Language and Culture Society to address linguistic insecurities in language learners.
