Dr. Yvonne Joho is a Research Fellow at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) within the Faculty of Science, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). She collaborates with Professor Kirill Alexandrov, focusing on protein-based biosensors for environmental monitoring and biomedicine. Her research integrates advanced protein engineering techniques to address environmental sustainability challenges.
Dr. Joho holds a PhD from the Australian National University (2024), where her work centered on developing plastic-degrading enzymes using combinatorial approaches and directed evolution. She has published in high-impact journals, including studies on PETase enzyme evolution and pesticide impacts on honeybee physiology.
Her research interests span biotechnology, environmental science, and protein engineering, with a focus on creating sustainable solutions for plastic degradation and environmental health. Her recent articles highlight innovations in enzyme design and biocatalysis, contributing to both industrial and ecological applications.
Funding:
- Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) Postdoctoral Fellowship
Lab/Team: Part of the Centre for Agriculture and the Bioeconomy at QUT, fostering interdisciplinary research in sustainable technologies.
