Yves Marrocchi is a Director of Research at CNRS and Deputy Director of the Centre de Recherches Pétrographiques et Géochimiques (CRPG), a joint unit of CNRS and Université de Lorraine. His research specializes in cosmochemistry, planetology, and the geochemical analysis of meteorites to understand early solar system processes. He earned his PhD from INPL/CRPG in 2004 and conducted postdoctoral research at George Washington University.
His work integrates petrographic and isotopic techniques to study meteorite formation, aqueous alteration in asteroids, and the dynamics of protoplanetary disks. Key interests include hydrogen/oxygen isotope systematics, chondrule origins, and volatile element behavior in planetary bodies.
Marrocchi has led significant projects, including ANR grants (e.g., SAPINS, OASIS) and international collaborations (CEFIPRA), focusing on solar system chronology and volatile origins. He supervises doctoral students and contributes to editorial boards of Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta and Meteoritics and Planetary Science.
