Yves Kwan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Texas at Dallas, affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. He received his DPhil in Theoretical Physics from the University of Oxford in 2022 and is currently a postdoctoral researcher there until 2025.
His research focuses on strongly correlated electron systems in moiré materials, particularly graphene-based heterostructures. Key areas include topological insulators, fractional Chern insulators, and quantum phase transitions driven by electron interactions and lattice deformations.
Recent publications highlight his work on fluctuation-driven instabilities in rhombohedral graphene, valley spiral order in moiré systems, and unconventional superconductivity in bilayer graphene. His studies employ advanced theoretical frameworks like Hartree-Fock approximations and multi-band exact diagonalization.
