Yuwen Zhu

Dr. Yuwen Zhu is an Associate Professor in the Surgical Oncology Division at the Department of Surgery, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU AMC), School of Medicine. He obtained his PhD in Immunology from Mayo Clinic in 2006 and completed over 12 years of postdoctoral training in cancer immunotherapy under Dr. Lieping Chen at Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, and Yale University.

Research Focus: Dr. Zhu's work centers on discovering novel immunosuppressive pathways and translating them into cancer therapies. His lab has identified key immune checkpoints like CD112R (PVRIG) and GPR171, and elucidated mechanisms such as the CD93/IGFBP7 axis that impair T cell infiltration in tumors. Recent studies highlight GPR182 as a chemokine scavenger limiting antitumor immunity in melanoma models.

Selected Publications reveal expertise in T cell biology, tumor vascular dysfunction, and checkpoint inhibition.
