Yury Bogdanov

Dr Yury Bogdanov is a Lecturer in Transgenic Technologies at the University of Southampton, with primary research interests in the role of neurotransmitters like GABA in tumor microenvironment modulation of immune responses. He is affiliated with the Institute for Life Sciences, Centre for Cancer Immunology, and Institute of Developmental Sciences.

His research focuses on GABAergic signaling in immune cells, its immunosuppressive effects in tumor microenvironments, and developing transgenic animal models for cancer research. Current projects include GABA and angiogenesis studies, TNFR2 antibody development (with BioInvent International AB), and multiple Cancer Research UK-funded initiatives targeting myeloid cells and antibody immunotherapy.

Recent publications reveal trends in immunology (2025, 2022), neuroimmunology (2021), and molecular mechanisms of neurotransmitter signaling (2019, 2018). His work spans both basic neuroscience and translational cancer immunotherapy.
