Yuriko Öncü serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Modern Languages Education at Boğaziçi University, teaching Japanese language since 2018.

- M.A. in Foreign Language Education (Japanese Language Teaching) from Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Turkey (2023)
- B.A. in Women’s Studies (major) and Linguistics (minor) from State University of New York at Albany, USA (1999)
- Studies in English Language and Literature at Kansai Gaidai University, Japan (2000)
Her research integrates Japanese pedagogy with linguistic theory and gender studies, emphasizing practical language acquisition methodologies. This multidisciplinary approach stems from her unique combination of Women's Studies expertise and specialized Japanese teaching training.
She also holds a 420-hour Japanese Teacher’s Training Certificate and previously coordinated home study programs for children with disabilities (2000-2009).
