Dr. Su investigates acquisition, pedagogy, and assessment of L2 pragmatics, examining learners' pragmatic production through linguistic approaches. Her recent work explores nonproductive aspects of pragmatic competence focusing on prosody-pragmatics interfaces and digital-context interactional competence assessment, alongside native speaker analysis of Chinese speech events from cross-cultural perspectives.
Analysis of her 2023-2025 publications reveals increasing methodological sophistication through computational analysis, acoustic measurement, and discourse-gating tasks applied to Mandarin speech acts. Key trends include prosody-pragmatics integration in refusal strategies and digital assessment tools for business Chinese contexts.
