Dr. Yunjuan He is a Professor in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of North Georgia, specializing in Chinese language education. She holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Florida, an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Victoria (Canada), and a B.A. in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from Beijing Language and Culture University.
Her research focuses on second language acquisition, phonetics, phonology, and Chinese pedagogy. Key themes include the impact of linguistic, social, and pedagogical factors on L2 sound system acquisition, and the development of effective language teaching methodologies. She has led UNG's Chinese STARTALK program and received multiple awards, including the UNG Presidential Academic Innovation Award (2013, 2018) and the UNG Teaching Excellence Award (2015).
Dr. He teaches a wide range of Chinese language courses (elementary to advanced), linguistics, and culture-related modules. Her publications explore topics like Mandarin tone sandhi rule application, phonetic training efficacy, and cross-cultural language learning through film. Recent work combines empirical research with pedagogical innovation in language education.
