Yunah Lee is a Principal Lecturer at the University of Brighton's School of Humanities and Social Science, serving as Subject Lead for History and Writing and affiliated with the Centre for Design History. Her work bridges design history, material culture, and transnational studies in East Asia and Britain. She holds a PhD from the University of Brighton (2009) and prior degrees from Seoul National University, specializing in East Asian art history.
Research focuses include East Asian modern design since 1945, British design's role in national identity, and transnational exchanges between Euro-American and East Asian design cultures. Key projects include co-editing Design and Modernity in Asia (2022) and contributing to the V&A's Hallyu! exhibition. She has held visiting roles at institutions like Saitama University and the Korean Cultural Centre London.
Awards include the University of Brighton's Rising Star Award (2015-2017) for collaborative research on Modular Living in Asia. She supervises PhDs on East Asian design topics and teaches across Art History, Design History, and Curating programs.
