Yulia Bereshpolova is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Connecticut. She received her Ph.D. from Rostov State University in 2000. Her research focuses on neural communication mechanisms during behavioral state transitions.
Dr. Bereshpolova investigates how neurons coordinate to create visual perception and how communication shifts between vigilance, inattention, and sleep states. Key research interests include:
- Visual system neurodynamics
- State-dependent processing in thalamocortical networks
- Neural connectivity rules in awake behaving models
Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on neuronal interactions in visual pathways using electrophysiological approaches. Research trends highlight thalamocortical circuitry, axonal conduction properties, brain state modulation of sensory processing, and stability of neural transmission across consciousness states.
She leads an active neuroscience laboratory at UConn developing innovative methods to study state-dependent neural communication in awake animals.
