Yuko Kageyama-Hunt is a Senior Preceptor in Japanese at Harvard University's Japanese Language Program (JLP), serving since 2001. She has held leadership roles since 2013, mentoring junior instructors and administering program operations. With a B.A. in Linguistics from the University of Hawaii and an M.A. in Linguistics from Cornell University, her expertise spans Japanese pedagogy, language acquisition, and technology-enhanced instruction.
Her research focuses on refining teaching methods for linguistic concepts like tense, aspect, and modality, alongside integrating digital tools into language education. She has authored/co-authored foundational textbooks and reference materials for Japanese language teaching, including Nihongo Kyooiku Hyakka Daijiten and multimedia resources like Nihongo Kyoojuhoo. Kageyama-Hunt previously taught at institutions such as Cornell University, Middlebury College, and the U.S. State Department's Foreign Service Institute.
Her contributions include curriculum development across all levels of Japanese language instruction and advocacy for innovative teaching practices. She remains active in the academic community, balancing administrative duties with pedagogical research.
