Yufei Chen

Dr. Yufei Chen is a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). She holds a Ph.D. in Marine Science from Tongji University and has been working at SUSTech since 2020.

Her research focuses on organic biogeochemistry, with an emphasis on lipid biomarkers and geomicrobiology. She investigates the distribution mechanisms of tetraether lipids in various environments using interdisciplinary methods.

Recent publications highlight her work on GDGT biosynthesis in Acidobacterium and Picrophilus torridus, lipid responses to environmental stress, and the application of biomarkers in paleoclimate reconstruction and marine ecology. These studies span disciplines like biogeochemistry, microbial physiology, and environmental monitoring.

Dr. Chen has contributed to research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including a key project on GDGT ring synthesis mechanisms under environmental stress (2022-2025) and a major program on GDGT adaptation to climate changes (2021-2023).
