Yue Ge is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Administration at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He serves as Faculty Co-lead of the Urban Resilience Initiative (URI) and Joint Faculty in the Center for Resilient, Intelligent and Sustainable Energy Systems (RISES). His research focuses on community resilience, urban sustainability, and public-private partnerships, employing interdisciplinary methods like geospatial analysis and community-engaged research. Dr. Ge holds a PhD in Urban & Regional Science from Texas A&M University, an MEng from the China Academy of Urban Planning & Design, and a BS from Peking University.
He has secured over $5 million in research funding through projects such as NSF Smart & Connected Communities (risk communication via IT/AI), NSF Civic Innovation Challenge (urban resilience education hubs), and NASA Water Resources Applied Sciences (satellite-enhanced flooding forecasts). Key awards include the 2021 NCAR Early Career Award, 2022 UCF Reach for the Stars Award, and 2023-24 UCF FCI Fellowship.
Teaching includes undergraduate courses on hazard mitigation and disaster response, and graduate courses on urban resilience and crisis management. Recent research trends emphasize equity-centered approaches to resilience, crisis communication via social media, and interdisciplinary team-building in disaster response. He actively collaborates with Orlando and Orange County on smart city initiatives.
