Dr. Yucheng Liang is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business, with a courtesy appointment in the Department of Social and Decision Sciences. He is also an Associated Member of IZA (Institute for the Study of Labor) and a Research Affiliate at briq Institute. His research focuses on behavioral economics applications in accounting, finance, and management, particularly addressing uncertainty and information processing.
Dr. Liang holds a PhD in Economics from Stanford Graduate School of Business (2015–2020) and dual bachelor's degrees in Economics and Applied Mathematics from Peking University (2011–2015). His work bridges theoretical and empirical methods, examining topics like belief updating, risk perception, and decision-making under uncertainty.
His publications explore experimental and observational approaches to understanding how individuals process information, including studies on stock price reactions, admission criteria, and workplace social comparisons. Notable contributions include the Jaffray Lecture-winning study on information source reliability and a large-scale field experiment demonstrating reduced employee attrition through performance trajectory disclosures.
