Yuchen Ju is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Aalto University's Department of Energy and Mechanical Engineering within the School of Engineering. His research focuses on optimizing energy systems in buildings, particularly district heating, thermal energy storage, and demand response strategies. He holds a PhD from Aalto University (2024), with his thesis addressing short-term thermal energy storage applications in district-heated buildings.
His work emphasizes sustainable building design, energy efficiency, and integrating renewable energy solutions. Key areas include hybrid heat pump systems, waste heat utilization, and peak load management in Nordic climates. He actively participates in international conferences such as BuildSim-Nordic and Healthy Buildings Europe, contributing to discussions on energy flexibility and indoor climate.
Recent studies highlight innovative approaches to cost-optimal system dimensioning for hospitals and kindergens, leveraging waste heat from hydrogen production. His research also explores control strategies for thermal storage in office buildings to reduce peak power demands, demonstrating practical applications for grid stability and energy cost reduction.
