Yucang Liang

Dr. Yucang Liang serves as a Senior Scientist at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Tübingen, Germany. He has been with the university since January 2010, working within Prof. Reiner Anwander's research group. Prior to this position, Dr. Liang held various academic appointments including Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Bergen, Norway (2005-2009), and Assistant Professor at Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Chinese Academy of Sciences (1999-2001).

Dr. Liang received his B.S. in Chemistry Education from Yan'an University (1989-1993), followed by M.S. studies at the Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (1996-1997) and M.S. research at Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (1997-1999). He completed his Ph.D. at Technische Universität München under Prof. Reiner Anwander (2001-2005).

His research focuses on nanomaterial science, particularly the synthesis and characterization of periodic mesoporous materials, surface organometallic chemistry, nanocatalysts, and metal-organic frameworks. Dr. Liang's work bridges fundamental materials science with practical applications in catalysis, environmental remediation, and energy conversion. His recent publications demonstrate expertise in designing advanced materials for CO2 capture, water splitting, pollutant degradation, and sustainable chemical processes.

Dr. Liang's recent publications show a strong trend toward developing functional nanomaterials for environmental applications and energy conversion. His work combines precise control of material morphology with surface chemistry to create catalysts and sensors with enhanced performance. The research spans from fundamental surface chemistry to practical applications in water treatment, gas storage, and renewable energy technologies.

Dr. Liang has mentored numerous graduate and undergraduate students throughout his career, serving as co-supervisor for PhD candidates Ning Yuan (Photoluminescent Mesoporous Silica Hybrid Materials, 2015) and Leilei Luo (Monodisperse Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles, 2018), as well as several Master's and Bachelor's students. His teaching responsibilities at the University of Tübingen include Organic Chemistry Lab Course, Nanoscience I & II, and Nanochemistry Lab Course for bachelor students.

Based at Building A, 9A38 at the University of Tübingen, Dr. Liang's research group focuses on developing advanced materials for catalytic applications, environmental remediation, and sustainable chemical processes, with particular expertise in controlling the topology and morphology of nanostructured materials.
