Yu-Shan Tseng is a Research Fellow at the University of Southampton, holding an Anniversary Fellowship. She is affiliated with the Economy, Society and Governance research group and the Centre for Democratic Futures. Her work focuses on AI and democracy, platforms and cities, platforms and wellbeing, and comparative methods. She is actively supervising PhD students and accepts applications in these areas.
Her research examines digital democracy, algorithmic governance, and urban AI phenomena through comparative studies and mixed-methods approaches. Key projects include analyses of platforms like Decide Madrid and vTaiwan, and critical examinations of e-participatory budgeting in Helsinki. She employs ethnographic and dialectical methodologies to explore governance innovations and spatial resistances in platform cities.
