Dr Young Chan Kim is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of International Business and Economics at the University of Greenwich, London. He holds a PhD and specializes in international business, foreign direct investment, and China’s global economic engagements. His research explores Asian multinational enterprises, regional integration, and the digital economy. He has authored numerous books, including Chinese Global Production Networks in ASEAN (2015) and China and the Islamic World (2023). Dr Kim is the Chief Editor of the ‘Made in China 2025’ project series, a key resource in China studies.
His academic career includes a tenure at Academia Sinica in Taiwan and recognition as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2020). Key research focuses include China-Africa relations, Belt and Road Initiative dynamics, and decolonized approaches to regional integration. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis of geopolitical and economic shifts in Asia and beyond.
