Youna Kim is a Professor of Global Communications at the American University of Paris. She holds a PhD from Goldsmiths College, University of London, an MA from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a BA from Ewha Woman's University in Seoul. Her research focuses on media sociology, gender and globalization, Korean/Asian studies, media audiences, and digital diaspora.
- Joined AUP from the London School of Economics (LSE), where she taught since 2004.
- Author of over 15 books, including Women, Television and Everyday Life in Korea and The Korean Wave: Korean Media Go Global.
- Edited volumes on media consumption, transnational migration, and South Korean popular culture's impact on North Korea.
