You Qi

You Qi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Virginia. His office is located in 305 Kerchof Hall, and he can be reached at (434) 924-4936 or via email at yq2dw@virginia.edu.

Dr. Qi's research focuses on several interconnected areas of pure mathematics. His primary fields of interest include Representation Theory, Categorification, Algebra, and Topology. These research areas represent fundamental aspects of modern mathematics with connections to theoretical physics and other mathematical disciplines.

Dr. Qi obtained his PhD from Columbia University in May 2013 under the supervision of Professor Mikhail Khovanov. Prior to his current position at the University of Virginia, he held prestigious postdoctoral positions including Sherman-Fairchild Research Assistant Professor at Caltech (2017-2019), Gibbs Assistant Professor at Yale (2014-2017), and Morrey Visiting Assistant Professor at UC Berkeley (2013-2014). He completed his MPhil at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2008 under Professor Guowu Meng and received his BSc from Tsinghua University in 2006.
