Prof. Dr. Yordan Doykov is a distinguished academic in the field of national security and political science at the National Business University (NBU), where he serves in the Department of National and International Security. His academic journey includes positions at UNSS, VTU "St. Cyril and St. Methodius," and UniBIT before joining NBU.
Prof. Doykov's research interests span national security, political decision-making, sociology of security, military aspects of national security, crisis management, and geopolitical studies. His scholarly work demonstrates a strong theoretical foundation combined with practical applications in security studies. He has developed a distinctive approach that integrates phenomenological sociology with security studies, particularly through his engagement with the works of Peter Berger, Thomas Luckmann, and Max Scheler.
His recent publications show a clear trajectory toward examining the philosophical and sociological foundations of security, war, and political decision-making. The articles demonstrate a sophisticated theoretical framework that examines security through multiple lenses including phenomenological sociology, epistemology, and political theory. His work bridges traditional security studies with deeper philosophical inquiries about the nature of knowledge, reality, and social construction in security contexts.
