Yoo Jung Ha

Yoo Jung Ha is a Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Associate Professor) in International Business at the School for Business and Society, University of York. She holds a PhD from Alliance Manchester Business School (UK), an MPhil from the University of Oxford (UK), and a BA/MA from Ewha Womans University (South Korea). Before joining York in 2023, she taught at Sheffield University Management School and held visiting roles at Rikkyo, Keio, and Waseda Universities in Japan. Her research explores multinational enterprises, innovation, inter-organisational collaboration, and sustainability in the automotive sector and East Asian economies. She has received grants from the British Academy and Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and her work appears in journals like British Journal of Management and Industrial & Corporate Change.

Her research interests focus on how MNEs influence local innovation ecosystems, particularly in South Korea and Japan. She examines topics such as eco-innovation diffusion, FDI spillovers, and strategic collaboration in automotive global value chains. Her recent work emphasizes network diversity’s role in supplier innovation and the impact of CEO leadership on global performance variance.

Awards include the 2022-23 Japan Society Fellowship and 2018 Palgrave Macmillan Best Paper Award. She actively supervises PhD students in international business strategy and innovation studies.

Teaching: Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, specializing in international business strategy modules. She integrates empirical research insights into her pedagogical practice.
