Prof. Yonina C. Eldar is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Weizmann Institute of Science, where she holds the Dorothy and Patrick Gorman Professorial Chair and heads the Center for Biomedical Engineering. She leads the Signal Acquisition Modeling Processing and Learning (SAMPL) Lab, focusing on transformative technologies in signal processing and AI. She also holds visiting and adjunct positions at MIT, Princeton, Duke University, Northeastern University, Fudan University, Tsinghua University, and the University of Hong Kong.
Her research interests include:
- Efficient sampling and compressed sensing
- Medical imaging (ultrasound, MRI, CT)
- Model-based deep learning and AI
- Wireless communication and radar systems
- Computational biology and green data acquisition
- Next-generation ultrasound and super-resolution technologies
Her work emphasizes model-based artificial intelligence to extract maximum information with minimal resources, bridging theoretical foundations with real-world applications in health, sensing, and communication. She has pioneered innovations in Xampling and green acquisition systems, enabling efficient data processing across domains.
Prof. Eldar has received numerous scientific honors, including:

She has advised numerous students and leads a multidisciplinary research team developing cutting-edge technologies in AI and engineering. She has secured significant research grants and leads translational projects through the SAMPL Lab. She also serves as Editor-in-Chief of Foundations and Trends in Signal Processing and has held leadership roles in IEEE and SIAM. She is actively involved in promoting gender fairness in science as head of the Committee for Gender Fairness in Higher Education in Israel.
