Yonglin Jiang serves as Professor and Chair of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Bryn Mawr College, teaching courses on Chinese civilization surveys, the Chinese revolution, human rights in China, and imperial Chinese legal culture seminars.
He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
His research centers on legal culture in imperial China and ethnicity/law in contemporary China, with major publications including The Great Ming Code (2005) and The Mandate of Heaven and the Great Ming Code (2011), alongside scholarly articles examining legal philosophy, the body, ethnicity, religion, and law enforcement in Chinese contexts.
