Dr Yong Goh is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland's School of Psychology and Wellbeing. He holds qualifications including a BA, MPsych, and PhD from Queensland institutions. His expertise spans occupational wellbeing, cross-cultural studies, organisational psychology, stress and coping mechanisms, and sustainability. He leads a multinational research collaboration across 5 nations (Australia, China, Japan, Hungary, Singapore) investigating workplace stress and wellbeing. His research integrates mindfulness practices and sustainable behavior interventions, complemented by his roles as a Zen meditation teacher and traditional martial arts instructor.
Yong Goh's research outputs emphasize human-centric approaches to sustainability, cultural sensitivity in workplace dynamics, and mental health measurement tools. His work bridges psychological theory with practical applications such as participatory housing design and cross-cultural validation of psychometric instruments. Prior to academia, he served as a personnel psychologist in the Singaporean Ministry of Defence.
His teaching focuses on cross-cultural psychology and work-integrated learning. Research interests include PERMA wellbeing frameworks, biodiversity's impact on emotional health, and humor's role in workplace stress management. Collaborative methodologies and participatory design feature prominently in his sustainability-related projects.
