Yona Harvey serves as the Tammis Day Professor of Poetry in the Department of English Language and Literature at Smith College, where she maintains an active creative and academic practice. Her work bridges scholarly and popular domains through award-winning poetry collections and groundbreaking contributions to comic book storytelling.
Her research and creative interests center on contemporary poetry, African American literary traditions, and the narrative possibilities of comics. Harvey explores themes of love, identity, and the African diaspora through innovative verse forms, as evidenced by her publications in Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora and The Best American Poetry, alongside experimental projects like Marvel Comics' World of Wakanda.
