Yolanda González Cid

Yolanda González Cid is a Professor at the University of the Balearic Islands in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Department of Computer Architecture and Technology. She has been a faculty member at UIB since 2000, teaching various undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science and engineering, following her tenure at UNED from 1996-2000.

Her educational background includes:

• Computer Science degree from the University of Deusto (1992)
• PhD in Industrial Engineering from UNED (1998)

Professor González Cid's research focuses on Robotics, Computer Vision, and Autonomous Navigation. She is an active member of the SRV (Systems, Robotics and Vision) research group and the SRV-MARIS (Marine Robotics and Intelligent Systems) research group at UIB. Her work has resulted in participation in nationally and Europeanly funded projects and regular publications in prestigious scientific conferences and journals.

She has served on scientific and program committees for numerous international conferences in her field and has supervised doctoral research. Her teaching portfolio includes courses such as Programming, Computer Fundamentals, Digital Electronics, Industrial Vision, Remote Systems Control, and Deep Learning across various computer engineering and informatics degree programs.

Professor González Cid currently directs theses in three doctoral programs: Translational Research in Public Health and High Prevalence Diseases, Information and Communication Technologies, and Marine Ecology. Her teaching for the 2025-26 academic year spans multiple degree programs including Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Applied Mathematics.
