معرفی
Yoke Khin Yap is a Professor in the Department of Physics at Michigan Technological University, specializing in nanomaterials and quantum-scale research. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Osaka University and BS/MS degrees in Physics from the University of Malaya. His laboratory focuses on functionalizing boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) for applications in nanoelectronics, biomedicine, and energy harvesting.
Research interests span:
- Development of high-brightness fluorophores for biomedical imaging
- Semiconductor-free transistors using quantum tunneling
- Low-temperature synthesis of nanostructures
- Gold quantum dots for tunable optoelectronics
Recent publications demonstrate cross-disciplinary innovation, with collective trends in:
- Quantum material synthesis (45% of articles)
- Biomedical applications (30%)
- Advanced electronics (25%)
Awards and honors:
- NSF Career Award (2005)
- Bhakta Rath Research Award (2011)
- Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow (2015)
- MTU Research Award (2018)
Leads the Yoke Khin Yap Laboratory and founded StabiLux Biosciences to commercialize BNNT-based medical technologies. Current work explores DNA-like atomic chains and 2D quantum materials.
