Yo Matsumoto is a Professor of Linguistic Theory and Typology at the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics (NINJAL) in Tokyo. He holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Stanford University (1992). His research focuses on lexical semantics and its intersections with syntax, morphology, pragmatics, and cognitive science.
He has authored Complex Predicates in Japanese (1996) and co-authored Expressions of Space and Motion (1997) and The Semantics and System of Japanese Lexical Compound Verbs (2018).
