Ylva Ivarsson is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Uppsala University, Sweden. She holds an MSc (2001) and PhD (2006) in Biochemistry from Uppsala University. Her research focuses on motif-based interactions in intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) of proteins, combining biochemical, biophysical, and computational approaches. She leads the Ivarsson Lab (ivarssonlab.com), which explores protein folding, phospholipid interactions, and regulatory mechanisms.
After postdoctoral work in Italy, Belgium, and Canada, she established her independent research group in 2013. Notable contributions include developing proteomic peptide phage display. She received a Swedish Research Council Young Investigator Grant and was tenured in 2018.
Her expertise spans protein misfolding, cell-based assays, and interdisciplinary methods to study protein-protein interactions. Current projects address affinity, specificity, and deregulation of motif-mediated interactions in proteomes.
