Dr. Ylias Sabri is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at RMIT University, Australia. He holds a B.Eng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in 2010. With an h-index of 40, he has authored over 100 ISI journal articles, filed five patents, and contributed two book chapters. His research focuses on material science, chemical sensing, pollution control, sensor technology, waste management, and nanomaterials, aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals such as Climate Action and Clean Energy.
Dr. Sabri has supervised 11 completed PhD students and is currently mentoring 9 others. He leads projects in functional nanomaterials for environmental catalysis, gas sensing, and recycling of end-of-life solar panels. His visiting scientist role at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) from 2022 to 2025 underscores his industry collaboration. Key research areas include graphene oxide composites, humidity sensors, and antimicrobial coatings.
His work spans applications in pollution control, energy storage, and biomedical devices. Notable contributions include recyclable SERS substrates, advanced catalytic systems, and bioactive coatings derived from biomass. Dr. Sabri actively engages in teaching chemical and environmental engineering, with interests in heat transfer, pollution control, and capstone projects.
