Dr. Ying Zhou is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health at Emory University. Her research focuses on environmental exposure assessment, health impact analysis, and economic valuation of health risks linked to air pollution, climate change, and policy interventions. She holds a Sc.D. from Harvard University and a B.S. from Tsinghua University.
Her research interests include global health risk assessment, air pollution mitigation strategies, and the intersection of climate change with public health. She has conducted studies on PM2.5, ozone, and UV radiation exposures, as well as economic analyses of public health policies targeting environmental pollutants like lead in drinking water.
Dr. Zhou’s recent work explores the neurobiological and behavioral mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders, such as fragile X syndrome and schizophrenia, using human organoid models and mouse studies. She has also investigated mental health trends among medical trainees in China and the U.S., highlighting cross-cultural disparities in depression prevalence.
Her articles span neuropharmacology, genetic disorder modeling, and translational medicine, with a focus on developing therapeutic strategies for conditions like alcohol use disorder and cognitive deficits. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to bridge environmental health, molecular biology, and clinical research.
