Ying Wu is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northwestern University, with a courtesy appointment in Computer Science. Her research focuses on computer vision, autonomous systems, statistical learning, and biomedical applications. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an M.S. from Tsinghua University, and a B.E. from Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
Her research interests include autonomous robots, intelligent machines, multi-modal perception, and multimedia data analytics. Notable contributions involve evidential active recognition frameworks, micro-expression analysis, and weakly-supervised learning techniques. She is affiliated with the Master of Science in Robotics Program and has authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles.
Recent work emphasizes robust anomaly detection under contaminated data, adversarial learning, and uncertainty modeling. Her projects bridge theory and applications in healthcare (e.g., biomedical image processing) and robotics.
