Dr. Yin Lam is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Victoria. Currently on leave, she specializes in archaeology, zooarchaeology, and palaeoanthropology, with a focus on taphonomy and early hominin behavior.
Research Interests & Projects
- Studying faunal remains to understand differential preservation and zooarchaeological methodology
- Investigating shifts in faunal exploitation patterns during the Pleistocene/Holocene transition in Guangxi, China
- Leading faunal analysis for the Eastern Boeotia Archaeological Project in Eleon, Greece
Publication Trends
Dr. Lam’s work spans Middle Stone Age material culture, bone density studies, and paleoenvironmental reconstruction. Her research integrates taphonomy with zooarchaeological analysis to address hominin dietary patterns, symbolic behavior, and environmental adaptation across Africa and East Asia.
