Yilin Wang is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at ETH Zurich, conducting research at the interface of complex analysis and probability theory. Previously, she served as Junior Professor at the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHES) from 2022, following postdoctoral positions as a CLE Moore Instructor at MIT and Strauch Postdoctoral Fellow at MSRI.
Her educational background includes:
- Master of Science in Probability and Statistics from the University of Paris-Saclay
- PhD from ETH Zurich (2019) supervised by Fields Medalist Wendelin Werner
Wang's research centers on profound connections between random conformal geometry, geometric function theory, and Teichmüller theory, utilizing tools like Loewner energy, Schramm-Loewner evolutions, Gaussian free field, and Weil-Petersson Teichmüller space. Her work bridges mathematical physics with deep theoretical explorations of hyperbolic surfaces, 3-manifolds, and Brownian loop measures.
She has received significant recognition:
- New Frontiers Maryam Mirzakhani Prize (2022)
- ERC Starting Grant (2023) for "Connecting Random Conformal Geometry and Teichmüller Theory" (RaConTeich)
- Salem Prize (2024)
As Principal Investigator of the €1.5M ERC Starting Grant under Horizon Europe, Wang leads the RaConTeich project while mentoring graduate students at ETH Zurich. She serves as editor for the Bulletin and Journal of the London Mathematical Society, contributing to scholarly dissemination in mathematical sciences.
