Dr. Yiliang Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), affiliated with the Cardiovascular Research Center. He specializes in metabolic diseases, inflammation, and atherosclerosis. Dr. Chen holds a PhD from the University of Toledo (2009) and a BS in Genetics from Fudan University (2001). His postdoctoral work at the Blood Center of Wisconsin focused on CD36 signaling in chronic inflammation and atherosclerosis.
His research investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying macrophage-driven atherosclerosis, mitochondrial dynamics, and lipid metabolism. Techniques include single-cell RNA sequencing, Seahorse metabolic assays, and confocal microscopy. Key interests include CD36-mediated lipid trafficking, mitochondrial ROS production, and macrophage-adipocyte cross-talk in atherogenesis.
