He holds academic positions including Postdoctoral Researcher at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and Visiting Scholar at UTS. His research focuses on environmental exposures (e.g., air pollution, e-cigarette vapor, maternal smoke) and their effects on respiratory, renal, and neurological health across generations. Key areas include airway hyperreactivity, epigenetic changes, and mitochondrial dysfunction in offspring exposed to pollutants. Chan has contributed to over 50 peer-reviewed articles, with recent work emphasizing cross-generational impacts of PM2.5 and third-hand e-cigarette exposure.
He holds a PhD in Neuroscience and prior degrees from UTS. His funded research includes grants addressing COPD origins, silicosis reversal, and developmental air pollution effects. Chan’s work integrates molecular biology, animal models, and clinical insights to advance understanding of environmental health risks.
