معرفی
YiPing Chen is a Professor and holds the John L. and Mary Wright Ebaugh Chair in Science and Engineering at Tulane University's School of Science & Engineering. His research focuses on genetic control of organ development, craniofacial and cardiac biology, adipocyte biology, and metabolism. He teaches courses in Developmental Biology and related topics.
Education:
- Postdoctoral Fellowship, Harvard Medical School (1996)
- Ph.D. in Cellular/Molecular Biology, University of Iowa (1993)
Research Interests: Dr. Chen's lab investigates molecular mechanisms underlying organogenesis using transgenic/knockout approaches, CRISPR/Cas-9 genome editing, and experimental embryology. Recent work emphasizes adipocyte differentiation, beiging response, and systemic metabolism regulation. Techniques include cell culture, biochemistry, genomics, and bioinformatics to study transcription factor roles in development.
Key Awards:
- 2021: Distinguished Scientist Award in Craniofacial Biology
- 2016: Outstanding Researcher Award (Tulane)
- 2004: Innovator of the Year (CityBusiness)
Lab & Location: Research is conducted at the Lindy Claiborne Boggs Center (6823 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans). Current projects explore adipocyte populations' roles in metabolism and regenerative mechanisms in cardiac/craniofacial tissues.
