Yeongjun Ryu serves as a Research Fellow in the Department of Geosciences at Princeton University, working within The Sigman Laboratory. His research specializes in Geochemistry and Paleoclimate, focusing on the application of geochemical methods to interpret historical climate data from geological archives.
Dr. Ryu recently defended his Ph.D. dissertation, marking the completion of his doctoral training. His current postdoctoral work builds upon this foundation to address critical questions in paleoclimatology through collaborative projects in the laboratory.
His research interests encompass the analysis of isotopic and elemental compositions in marine and terrestrial sediments to reconstruct past environmental conditions. This work falls under the broader disciplines of Earth Sciences and Climate Science, with specific emphasis on paleoceanography, biogeochemical cycling, climate proxy development, sedimentary geochemistry, environmental isotope analysis, and Quaternary climate dynamics.
As a member of The Sigman Laboratory, Dr. Ryu contributes to collaborative projects that aim to enhance the understanding of climate variability over geological timescales. The laboratory employs state-of-the-art analytical techniques to investigate the Earth's climate history, including sample preparation facilities and instrumentation for isotopic and trace element analysis.
