معرفی
Yaël Schlick is a Professor at Queen's University, specializing in literary studies with a focus on travel writing, metafiction, and American poetry. Her research explores intersections between literature and cultural history, often delving into archives to uncover marginalized voices. Current projects include analyzing Martha Gellhorn’s war correspondence and the collaborative nature of Richard Byrd’s polar memoir.
Her work bridges theoretical and empirical approaches, as seen in Metafiction (Routledge 2022), which examines postmodern narrative forms, and Feminism and the Politics of Travel After the Enlightenment (Bucknell 2014), which links feminist theory to travel literature. She has also translated and edited Victor Segalen’s Essay on Exoticism (Duke UP 2002), a foundational text on cultural diversity.
Research interests include the aesthetics of travel, gender studies, and the ethics of perception in poetry. Her articles analyze figures like Elizabeth Bishop and Alison Bechdel, emphasizing how literary forms challenge societal norms.
