Yaya Sissoko is a Professor of Economics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), affiliated with the Department of Finance and Economics within the Eberly College of Business. He holds a PhD, MS, and BS in Economics and Econometrics from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and the University of Bamako, Mali, alongside a certification in Entrepreneurship Education from the International Labour Organization. His expertise spans Economic Development, Econometrics, Environmental Economics, and Monetary Economics.
Dr. Sissoko has been at IUP since 2005 and has received the 2008 People Award from the African American Cultural Center. He advises the Pan-African Student Association and IUP Soccer Club, and contributes to Pan-African Studies and Asian Studies programs. His research focuses on regional studies, particularly Pennsylvania and neighboring states, and includes over a dozen publications in journals like the African Journal of Accounting, Economics, Finance and Banking Research and International Advances in Economic Research.
He serves on editorial boards, including the Pennsylvania Economic Review, and chairs the Pennsylvania Economic Association's Best Undergraduate Paper Contest. His work integrates econometric analysis with policy-relevant studies on topics like public capital investments, startup impacts, and global health crises.
