Yarin Eski is an Associate Professor in Political Science and Public Administration at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in criminology, governance, and policing. He co-directs the Resilience, Security and Civil Unrest (ReSCU) R&I Lab and holds fellowships at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR) and the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI). He earned his PhD in Criminology from the University of Glasgow in 2015.
His research focuses on maritime security, port policing, organized crime, genocide, and emerging space criminology. Notable publications include Policing, Port Security and Crime Control (2016), A Criminological Biography of an Arms Trader (2023), and the edited volume Crime, Criminal Justice and Ethics in Outer Space (2025). He explores interdisciplinary topics like algorithmic policing, hybrid threats, and ethical dilemmas in space exploration.
Eski teaches courses on criminology, security governance, and qualitative methodologies. His projects include combatting maritime organized crime, hybrid threat awareness, and resilient governance strategies. He has advised on public-private partnerships addressing vulnerable youth inclusion and cyber infrastructure protection.
His scientific accolades include being a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). Recent articles analyze Tesla's surveillance practices, astrocide typologies, and ethical frameworks for outer space criminal justice.
