Yannis M. Ioannides

Yannis M. Ioannides is the Max and Herta Neubauer Endowed Chair and Professor of Economics at Tufts University's School of Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD in Engineering-Economic Systems and Economics from Stanford University (1974). His research focuses on social economics, macroeconomics, inequality, and urban economics. He has held academic positions at institutions including Brown University, Boston University, and Virginia Tech, and has served as Department Head at Virginia Tech. He is a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Athens (elected 2017) and a Fellow of the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory (2024). His work explores social interactions, housing markets, and urban growth, with notable contributions to understanding economic networks and intercity trade dynamics.
