Yanni Zeng is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Sun Yat-sen University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University in 1992. Before joining UAB in 1997, he held positions as a visiting assistant professor at Brown University and a postdoctoral research associate at Stony Brook University.
His research focuses on Partial differential equations, Nonlinear analysis, Conservation laws, and Shock waves. He has secured three extramural and two intramural research grants, and co-PI'd grants for conference and equipment support. Notable recognitions include the NSF International Research Fellowship (1998) and the Oak Ridge Ralph E. Powe Award (1998).
Zeng teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Differential Equations and Partial Differential Equations, with recent emphasis on curriculum development in modeling, simulation, and analysis of phenomena in physical and life sciences.
